Why Authors Should Promote with an Online Book Launch

No matter how you slice it a visible online book launch has incredible benefits. Take the book to bestseller status and the benefits skyrocket.

A few of the obvious ones are:

1. Book sales
2. Credibility as an author
3. Revenues
4. Backend revenue opportunities

When done right not only is this a very strategic marketing process, it's also one that can create incredible long-term benefits.

Before you jump into a book launch you need to know there are some people who don't view an online bestseller launch as a viable marketing strategy. Some have gone as far as calling online campaigns a scam.

There are those who seem to think all you need to do is get a bunch of people to offer a bonus gift, send out an email message and sales pour in.

I daresay there's a lot more to a successful launch than getting your buddies together and blasting out an email.

One simple step to increase traffic to your blog

If you're looking to increase traffic to your blog or website, be viewed as a credible expert and gain visibility start commenting on other blogs.

However, you have to put some thought into your comments. The best comments are those that have substance to them. For example, rather than writing "great post" and leaving it at that write something specifically about what you liked.

Realize that eyeballs will read your information and judge you on the quality of information. Make your comments worth reading, keep them relevant and of interest to the initial post and the readers.

For example, let’s say you are a disaster-relief expert and you read a blog posting by someone who is viewed as a leading expert in this industry. Say the post writes something about steps communities can take during a disaster.

Add comments with something like, “Excellent points on dealing with a natural disaster. Something I have found to be extremely important is to put systems in place for the protection of pets. This is an often overlooked area during a disaster, but one that most pet owners need to know about.”

This is prime "real estate". A good practice is to have blogs you visit on a regular basis that you can leave comments on. Imagine the traffic you could generate if you were to have 12 blogs you regularly visited that have lots of traffic and you leave comments on a regular basis.

Simply subscribe to the blog and when something comes up you can comment on, presto, in a matter of minutes you've left your mark.

You don't need to comment on all the blogs every day. However, if you schedule 15 minutes a day to leave your comments within a very short period of time you will notice an increase in traffic to your site.

Do you learn from the “real deal” when it comes to your blog?

Everywhere you look there are "experts" who tell you what you need to do to build an online busin ess. They tell you how you can make a fortune by following their system. The problem is, far too many haven't accomplished what they are trying to teach you to do. They don't walk their talk.

How can this be? Simple, they buy a program that tells them what to do, they become an affiliate, use PLR products or they replicate what they read or hear.

Personally, I have a real concern with this. Why? Because I believe if I am going to learn from someone I want to know they really know what they are doing. Conversely, if I'm going to teach something doesn't it make sense I should know it works through my own successes?

Fortunately, there are those who are the real deal and believe as I do about accomplishing what we teach. They not only teach budding and established entrepreneurs how to start or continue to grow a business, they apply their own information to build their business.

If one more person tells me I’m so lucky…

Is your business prepared for the unexpected? If not, read this….

A little more than six months ago, I was training for a marathon as a power walker. During one of my longer workout sessions, I hit a pothole and instantly broke my ankle.

I was literally stopped in my tracks. Knowing I would be laid up for a few weeks, I took the first few days to relax and enjoy lounging on the couch. This was a great opportunity to review my business to determine if it was structured as soundly as I believed it to be.

Fortunately things were very sound and there was very little, if anything, that needed changing or fine tuning with my business structure. To say I was grateful is an understatement. I was ecstatic that I could take some needed time off to heal and still see revenues continue.

With each passing day I realized I had been well served to design my business the way I had. Thinking it would be only a few weeks of inconvenience, it soon became apparent life had a completely different plan for my time than I did.

Without going into a lot of detail I can assure you my life has literally turned upside down in the past six months. I have experienced what many baby boomers are experiencing with unavoidable family concerns.

I
learned long ago if you want to succeed at something the smartest thing to do
is learn from others who have achieved the very thing you desire. This thought
process has paid off. I now enjoy an
extremely successful business doing what I love. A business that affords me the
opportunity to make choices I otherwise would not have.

I
don’t share this to impress anyone, but to impress upon you that building a
successful business is very doable.

You CAN have choices

Having
a business that is profitable and sustainable allows us to make important
choices as the need and desire arise. For example, I love to donate to animal
rescue organizations and my business makes this possible. Beyond supporting
organizations, I have quite a few four-legged companions to whom I am able to
give a quality life.

Between
you and me, I don’t think my three horses, two dogs, two cats and a goat
realize how good they have it, but, what the heck, I know. I also know I could
not give them all they have if it were not for my business.

Perhaps
your passion has nothing to do with animals. It could be your church, your
local food bank, a women’s shelter. Maybe you are a boomer who is taking care
of elderly parents. Having a successful business would take away many of the pressures
that go along with the care.

are lots of numbers floating around the Internet as to how many blogs there
actually are. In July of 2008, Technorati claimed to be tracking 112.8
million blogs, a number that likely did not include the more than 72 million
Chinese blogs as counted by The China Internet Network Information Center
around the same time.

When we read about blog
statistics we usually hear about the English-language blogosphere without adding
the millions of other-language blogs into the equation.

So why is this outdated
statistic about how many blogs there are important to you? Simply put, if this
statistic is outdated and so enormous in size, you have to do a heck of a lot
more than put up a blog in order for it to be an effective tool for marketing,
selling and generating revenue.

The idea is to attract a
steady stream of visitors who either return to your blog or they read your
posts via feeds. However, before this can happen you need to get viewers to your
blog.

To get the most out of
your marketing efforts it’s essential to know the purpose of your blog. As with defining your market, the clearer you
are the better.

The fact is, blogs generate
revenue (directly and indirectly), position your expertise, give you massive
visibility and create ongoing opportunities.

Your blog is not meant to
be stagnant. It is a fluid resource where you have great opportunity to explore
your own creativity. One of the greatest benefits of blogging is you can say
and do just about anything you want. One of the biggest problems with blogging
is you can say and do just about anything you want. <grin>

The fact is blogs create
incredible opportunity. You never know who might “happen upon” your blog. This
is why it’s important to determine what your blog is for, what you want to
accomplish and what image you are projecting.

Once you have determined
the above-mentioned items, it’s time to gain visibility to drive traffic to
your blog. Keep in mind you don’t want just any traffic. You want targeted
traffic.
